IRC have partnered with a globally renowned engineering firm with locations based in Dublin and Cork. We are delighted to bring this exciting new Project Process engineer position to market. This position is based in Cork City.

In this role you will provide project leadership from inception through CQV/completion, including pre and post‐contract/client engagement. Expertly manage relationships between the design team and Subject Matter Expert (SME), while maintaining an excellent relationship with the client. Ensuring efficient use of resources throughout and act with integrity and high professional standards.


  • To capture a project brief and distill it into design toll gates for delivery (typically concept design, BOD, Detail design, tender, Construction, and CQV)
  • Manage project requirements to present, progress and manage the acquisition of design information whilst managing multiple workstreams concurrently
  • To lead and coordinate teams to deliver coherent and well‐rehearsed face‐to face page‐turn presentations
  • To be able to review and provide input into the development of chemical
  • process/utility systems including review of P&IDs, PFDs, and review equipment sizing
  • Take the lead in process meetings with the client in the layout of plant/equipment and ensure all services are coordinated
  • To manage virtual design teams working across multiple times zones (this may be working with vendors around the world for projects in Ireland)
  • To keep clear and accurate records and reports
  • Manage the cost plan for the project
  • Manage the resources for the project across all disciplines
  • To lead, mentor and develop the team to achieve project and business goals
  • To 'set the standard' in terms how professionally the team will operate
  • To drive the team, dealing with difficult issues as they arise in a fair and reasonable manner
  • To spot and address performance issues before the client raises them
  • To quickly understand clients process and develop supporting tools
  • To work autonomously, as part of a wider team and leading a team
  • Monitor and mentor junior process/project engineers


  • To understand and maintain the long terms goals of the business
  • To manage project P&L spot and report issues as they arise
  • To understand the company QA process, maintain and contribute to same
  • To support growth initiatives
  • To maintain an appropriate knowledge of industry initiatives


  • BEng in Chemical Engineering is required
  • ISPE/IChemE Professional Membership desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status desirable
  • Proven experience in leading a project requirement, from concept design through to CQV
  • Experience in project management and Process engineering track record with experience working in the life sciences sector in Ireland
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, and medical devices sectors
  • An in‐depth technical expertise in process engineering
  • Enthusiastic, driven, and dynamic self‐starter with career progression aspirations
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design process
  • Ability to forge strong client and supplier/vendor relationships and maintain same
  • Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports
  • Ability to mentor and develop a team to achieve project and business goals
  • Ability to work well, either alone, or as part of a team under own initiative
  • Ability to step outside process engineering delivery norms and embrace an intensively collaborative design environment working for and reporting daily to an expert client
  • Ability to proactively step outside the role of conventional design regiment and stages and to understand fast track design driven by the client model
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project
  • Ability to use IT‐based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Adaptable, proactive approach to engineering tasks
  • Flexible and willing to travel to service projects and customers in Ireland (please note that this would be limited where possible)
  • Commercial and financial awareness and management of projects and fees
  • Ability to work autonomously, as part of a wider team, and leading a team
  • Sound knowledge and working application of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Able to chair and facilitate meetings at all levels
  • Possess exceptional clear communication skills and command of the English language both spoken/written
